The quietness of the sheep

‘How can you call your congregation a flock? Doesn’t that say everything about your religion?  That you think they’re sheep?’ – Richard Dawkins

I find it strange that Mr. Dawkins, an evolutionary biologist, has never (as far as I know) spoken about the built in self defense mechanism found in every flock of sheep. You’d think this would be right up his alley. This inherent ability seems to make sheep way more formidable than one might originally anticipate.

Sheep have adapted very smartly. They have a volunteer and a good dog to watch over them while donating hair and a couple of steaks now and then. The selfish gene at work. Sheep have had a protector for generations by being sheep. Pretty smart.

Sheep do have a sense of community though. It’s tougher to find community in real life as a atheist… or even a humanist I found. It’s the one thing I missed about the church actually. That and the girls…
